Bat Flips and Maple Dips

Bat Flips and Maple Dips started in 2018 after Justin and Patrick met online and began a passionate discussion about Canadian baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays. After more than 400 episodes the guys are still going strong and have interviewed Sportsnet’s Dan Shulman, Blue Jays pitcher Ross Stripling, MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson, Chris Henderson, CBC’s Devin Heroux, Saskatchewan baseball alum and Pirates draft pick Logan Hofmann & other great guests.

Coming off a series loss aginst the New York Yankees that the Toronto Blue Jays could have swept, Justin and Patrick dive into the numbers. The Blue Jays simply turn into different hitters with RISP, forgetting how to do even the most simple things at the plate. The guys discuss lineup construction including not starting George Springer against RHP until he heats up, and why the Jays aren't moving Ernie Clement into the top 2 spots on a regular basis.

Justin Anderson

Justin fell in love with baseball watching Roy Halladay and Carlos Delgado as a young kid in Saskatchewan. Justin figured it out at age 12 that he wasn’t a very good ballplayer but loved the game so much that he became an umpire. Justin continues to umpire men’s baseball in Saskatoon and provincial championships. His goal is to work a Canada Cup and an international event as an umpire.

Patrick Marsh

Patrick has always been a sports fanatic but baseball holds a special place in his heart. After playing baseball as a child he continued his passion as a lifelong Blue Jays fan from the championships in 1992 & 1993 to the fabled bat flip of 2015 and on to the present day. His passion led to a short stint blogging before the creation of Bat Flips and Maple Dips in 2018.
